Court-ordered classes by state
Court-Ordered Class Requirements by State
Court-ordered class requirements are set state by state — and often court by court. The table below compares 64 requirements we have verified across 20 states for anger management, domestic violence / batterer intervention, DUI / DWI, parenting class and divorce education: the program name each state uses, the typical length, whether an online class counts, and the official source. Whatever the table says, confirm the exact class with the court that ordered you before you enroll or pay.
The class type, the number of hours, who approves the provider and whether an online course counts are set at the state level for some topics and by the individual county court or probation department for others — which is why a class accepted in one county can be rejected a county away. Filter the table by state, class type or online rule, or search it, then open the full guide for the details and the official provider list. Hoping to change or waive a requirement rather than find a class? Read can you get out of court-ordered classes?

How we built this table
This table is not written separately. Every row is generated from the same source-checked data behind our individual state guides — the anger management, domestic violence, DUI/DWI, parenting and divorce education directories — so the table and the guides cannot drift apart. Each guide lists the official court, agency and statute pages it was checked against; the “Official source” column links the state agency or court page for that requirement (or the official provider list where that is the closest official page).
We include an entry only once it meets our editorial standards, and the table updates automatically when a guide is updated or a new state is added. It currently holds 13 anger management, 14 domestic violence / batterer intervention, 16 DUI / DWI, 14 parenting class and 7 divorce education requirements. “See guide” means that field does not reduce to one value for that class type — the full guide explains it.
